Pocket Shiva Nata

So. After six months filled with crazy hard work, our lovely baby — Pocket Shiva Nata — is here and alive and kicking!

As of right now. Hooray!

And there was great rejoicing, but also MAYHEM and HAPPY FLAILING and general brain scramble of the best possible kind. Again: Hooray!

In my brain-scrambled, state, here’s what I can tell you about our shiny new Pocket Shiva Nata baby:

This app is a practice tool for the first three levels of Shiva Nata – designed to complement our Starter Kit and Andrey’s DVD.

If you have an iPhone, oh boy! This is very good news, shivanautically speaking!

Or an iPad. Or an iPod touch. Or something that runs apps from the Apple store (iOS 3.2.2 or later). Yay.

Familiarity with the eight basic starting positions is assumed.

If you don’t have the Starter Kit but you’ve taken a class with me, you’ll be fine.

There is a stylized animated me doing the positions.

My voice calls the numbers (you can turn that on or off).

There are animated graphics and large numbers which show each position while it’s happening (you can turn the numbers on and off too).

You can adjust the speed to your own abilities (from super slow to outrageously fast), and turn on/off audio, visual, and textual cues as you like.

There’s a reminder function, which means your device (device!) will let you know once a day that it’s flailing time! This might be my favorite part.

You can pause it whenever you want, or start in the middle of a level or repeat things.

You can have the numbers be in 1-4 mode, or make it extra-fabulous/hard with 1-8 mode. Unless you studied with me and started off with 1-8, in which case 1-4 might be harder!

The entire thing (code, graphics, recording) was made in Portland, Oregon, home of the Playground. :)

Sadly, there will not be a Droid app version of this any time soon. Unless you happen to be a shivanaut Droid app programmer who wants to donate your services for a collaboration on this, but I’m guessing that this is not a likely thing.

There is no app for the higher levels. If you want to go deeper into the higher levels of the practice, get thee to the awesome Secret Lab!

We had an amazing programmer working on this, huge support from loving helper mice, and this was a beautiful team effort. I am full of appreciation for everything that went into making this a reality.

It was a labor of love! One quarter of the price makes it back to us, which in about twenty years should cover the time and effort that went into making this happen. Totally one hundred percent worth it, though, because a world with more Shiva Nata in it is the world I want to live in!

That’s the news….

Happy, happy flailing! Let the crazed zaptastic getting-lost begin!

What I would love right now:

1) Joyous celebration. It’s done! It’s here! It has arrived in the world! My tiny sweet thing that was also a Gwish has become a tangible, beautiful, amazing, real live gift. Yay!

1.5) Confetti! Shaped like stars! Or asparagus. I don’t know. Invent confetti!

2) Love and good wishes for all the amazing people who helped make this possible: Dave (of Fortified Studios), Richard and Casey: you guys are the best!

3) PLEASE PLEASE as many positive reviews as possible in the app store — the sooner the better.

And here’s the link again: The Pocket Shiva Nata app!

Thank you thank you thank you. And ohmygoodness hooray!

Maybe you’re planning to come to the amazing upcoming Shiva Nata training. Or maybe you can’t make it.

But either way you are very welcome to join us for a special, fun, snack-centric Shivanautical group call.

The call is on June 30 at noon Pacific. No cost.

You can listen in quietly (secret picnic mouse!) or bring questions as you like. We’ll also have a private Chattery, which is like a chat room but way more fun.

We’ll be talking about:

how to make your Shiva Nata practice more fun, playful, energized and sparkly.

why anyone gets to teach this (and the sneaky way to approach teaching).

setting yourself up to get the biggest and best insights and results from flailing.

It’s like a sneak preview. Except it’s a SNACK sneak preview.

Anyway, if you’re thinking about coming to the Shivanautical training of hilarity and play, this will reignite your practice and answer all sorts of useful questions.

And if you’re not thinking about coming to the training, this will a fun time to hang out with Shivanauts, ask questions, goof off and get practice and teaching tips.

Either way, you are welcome and it would be a delight to have you!

A weekend! Shiva Nata! Teacher training!

A weekend of madcap Shivanauttery and instruction and turning you into someone who feels capable, confident, competent and ready.

Very exciting.

The when:

The weekend of February 18-20.

We start Friday evening at 5pm, go all day (with lots of breaks) Saturday, and have a half day Sunday.

The where:

Portland, Oregon.

At the Playground (my beautiful studio for all things Shiva Nata).

The who:

Anyone who has ever done Shiva Nata.

You think you aren’t ready but you actually are.

You do not need to be any good at Dance of Shiva or even want to teach (ask anyone who came last time!).

The world needs more people teaching this. The epiphanies will be outrageously great. And if you think you aren’t ready, you definitely are.

And if you teach anything else, it will help you with that too. Ooh, I should probably mention that on the actual page.

Anyway.

The details.

Details are here: http://shivanata.com/teacher-trainings

That’s it.

Registration is now open. The Playground is fully equipped with all the best toys, tea and really good snacks.

We’re going to have a ridiculous amount of fun. And take apart some patterns. And build some new ones. And surprise ourselves.

And if you have any questions at all, let me know in the comments. I might have some ideas. Or maybe someone who’s been to a training before be able to answer too.

xox
Havi (and Selma)

Every morning (Toozday, Wednesday, Thursday) we'll be doing a 90 minute Shiva Nata class: from 9:30 - 11:00 am.

45 minutes of hilarious, awe-inspiring, glorrrrrrrrious practice (with breaks so your arms don't fall off).

45 minutes of Stone Skipping (I ask smart questions, your zapped-brain writes down whatever comes up. You get great information, and we seed more epiphanies to show up later.)

And of course shavasana and some light stretching.

Three days. Each class is completely different and completely crazy. We will laugh. We will flail. It will be awesome.

There are two ways to get in on this.

You can sign up to rally with us (Rally!), and then not only do you get brain-zapping goodness, hot buttered insights and massive destuckification, but you also get crazy progress done on your projects. On Toozday the Rally reverts to full price.

Or you can choose to just come for the shivanauttery.

One class: $75
All three classes: $195

Questions? Like these?

If you’re worried that this will be too hard, that’s okay.

Everyone will be lost. That’s how it works.

If you’re worried that this will be too easy, tell me. So I can make sure you get your ass handed to you on platter. Kidding. Maybe. But honestly, that is the least of your worries.

If you’re worried that you will be the only one who won’t get epiphanies, that is not going to happen.

If you’re worried that this might change your life in weird ways, that is a very legitimate thing to worry about. But it’s also a pattern. And we do Shiva Nata to shift our patterns.

So yes it will change things. And you should come if there’s any way you can make it.

Here is the link again for the rally: http://TheFluentSelf.com/Rally

If you’re planning to just come for the Shiva Nata classes, let me know as soon as possible because we can only let a few people do this.

That’s it!

Shiva Nata! In Portland. With tea and snacks and some of the most amazing people you’ll ever meet. And a diva duck. And a Schmoppet.

It will be epic.

Geographical clarification: that’s left-coast Portland. PDX.

Or should I say … the Portland of triple-decker bicycles ridden by bearded bacon-eating guys in tophats.

Anyway.

Guess who’s coming to town?! Okay, I’ll tell you.

It’s Sean Johnson and the Wild Lotus Band.

Yay!

THIS THURSDAY, March 11th, 2010 from 7:00 pm.

Here’s what it is.

Awesome, awesome kirtan from New Orleans.

Big, beautiful, surprisingly great stuff.

I’ve been a fan for several years now. And Selma and I have been to two of their amazing live shows (once in San Francisco and once in Sacramento). We have only the most wonderful things to say about Sean and his band and their work.

And if you’ve ever been to one of my Shiva Nata workshops, you’ve probably heard some of their songs from Calling The Spirits. I haven’t heard their new album yet but I’m assuming good things.

Here’s why I’m mentioning it here.

Dude.

There is nothing better for Shiva-ing it up than some good kirtan.

Plus, singing kirtan does for the heart what Dance of Shiva does for the brain.

It’s big.

It opens things. It changes things.

Introducing new patterns into your brain.

Plus I’ll be there and Selma will be there and this music will make you want to dance it up with Shiva Nata all night long.

Or sit and meditate. Or whatever.

The point is, you should come by if you can make it. And say hi to me and Selma.

Where is it?

Some hippie-ass place (we are in Portland, yes?) in southeast that I’ve never been to. I’m sure it’s great.

Thursday, March 11th, 7pm
An Evening Of Mystic Mantra Music
The Bhaktishop
2500 SE 26th Ave

And $15 gets you in the door.

Whee!

Maybe I’ll see you there.

Sing ho for kirtan!
